The Arts Society Guildford opens up the world of Decorative and Fine Arts to everyone.

Here in Guildford, we offer an exciting programme of monthly lectures on subjects ranging from Architecture to Ceramics, Sculpture to Photography, Warhol to Zoffany – and much more besides. Our lectures are given by eminent speakers who are expert, engaging communicators and excel in their chosen field.

We also run an annual Special Interest Day in association with Guildford Book Festival, where you can join us for more in-depth lectures on special subjects.

There are day visits by coach, as well as, more local ‘make your own way’ visits, to places of great interest, such as; art galleries, exhibitions, historic churches, houses and gardens often not open to the public.

As a Society, we also promote and support the Arts in our area through the activities of our Young Arts, Heritage Volunteers and Church Recording Teams. We also sponsor, with The Arts Society, a series of workshops at the Lightbox, Woking: Art in Mind is a series of artist led workshops for those with dementia nd their carers.

Our friendly Society goes from strength to strength and we celebrated our 35th Anniversary in 2016. We have a Membership of around 200 and we currently don't have a waiting list.

Our lectures are given in the evening and we draw our Members from Guildford Town centre and the surrounding villages.

A Portrait of  Jewels

Have you ever wondered about the backstory to many of the most famous pieces of jewellery in history?

Hear about the wonderful pearls that once belonged to Catherine De Medici and a spectacular diamond that belonged to King Charles I, later worn by Marie Antoinette and eventually belonging to a British member of parliament!

Jewel hunting has never been more fascinating.
